Volunteer Opportunities, ESPECIALLY ORIENTATIONS

Updated: Aug 10, 2022

Hi, Parent Club Members, Associates and Affiliates: Are you excited for school to start? I am. Here are some things you can do to get the year started off with a huge bang. I think it's so important that we show the students, staff, parents/guardians, and the community at large that White Hill is (absolutely figuratively) on FIRE this year and that the kerosene on that (again, not literal) fire is the Parent Club. Here are some immediate ways you can help and HUGE, GIANT thank you to those of you who have already volunteered, like Greg Pera who is changing the freaking world out there as our volunteer assistant athletic director, and NJ Hahn who has volunteered to keep the staff room stocked with snacks all year, to name just two! Also, if you can't do any of these, maybe consider whether you can recruit someone else to do it? Is that weird? Nah.

  1. Orientations: Please see this SignUp Genius, created by none other than Orientation Coordinator, Mo Blechen. Thanks, Mo! If your job involves buying things save your receipts and submit them to me at this email address, please.

  2. BUY LUNCHTIME SPORTING EQUIPMENT. Got a hookup at a sporting goods store? Or just good at negotiating discounts? We need 12 each of the following: basketballs, volleyballs, soccer balls, and discs (haha, that's what people called Frisbees in college). (You don't really have to get a discount. You can just buy them.) Send me receipts!

  3. LUNCHTIME VOLUNTEERS WANTED! Tell me if you're interested and we can make a signup sheet. You don't have to commit to every week or anything at all, just tell me you're interested and I'll send you a sign up. Sign up for one day or ten days or zero days! (You will have to fill out the Volunteer Forms. Here is the link for the 2021-22 volunteer packet. I can't find the new ones.) **Also if there's anyone interested in getting paid to be a lunchtime supervisor, those positions are open, as are positions for a full-time attendance clerk and food service person**

Don't forget -- special Meet-and-Greet for Parent Club with New Co-Principals John Baker and Mary-Clare Mullin on Thursday, August 11, at 5:00 at White Hill quad or whatever you call that area between the library and the office!

And please contact me if you want to get involved! whparentclub@gmail.com or 415-713-3923. Happy Sunday! Rachael
